While you wait for Venice to recover raid England but don't sack their Castles/Churches just raid then move on to another English petty Kingdom (if you sack their buildings they take too long to recover so just take the ducats and move on- rinse repeat when u see Venice fully recovered hit it/sack it again-rinse-repeat ). Sack Venice and take their Women it is only one province so they cant defend against raids (you will get extra treasure and you will gain the Viking trait). I usually have 24 ships on my first raid- by about 10 year prior to viking age. If you haven't got one around use the search character option and try to entice someone abroad with good spy skills (either by paying gold to get them to your court or by way of favour). In my current campaign I am playing as Rollo if you start in Uppland at the early date as 16year old character (I create my own chars using ruler designer), you will find a certain Ragnar Lodbrok in game also), he is 10 years younger but by the time you build enough ships to sail for first adventure he is usually of age and its cool sailing and raiding with Rollo and Ragnar (Vikings are some of my favorite campaigns).įocus on ship building (so u can sail prior to Viking age), get you Spy to Constantinople as Constantinople gives massive ship building tech, and legislation tech (and more), but those two techs I find very useful. I usually play in Uppland and become King of Sweden. (Did you say you were playing Norway?), you should have around 1k in funds and lots of treasure.
By the time of the viking age (if you start as duke), you should have formed Norway and be the King of Norway etc. Prior to Viking age you have no competition from other Viking groups. You should be raiding well before the Viking age begins (i usually do it at least 10-15 years prior).
